At Garen Wolf School of Music, we offer ensembles for instrumental groups, string orchestra, and choir.
Instrumental
groups
All young musicians, from beginners to advanced, will find their unique instruction needs met in beginning, cadet, intermediate, or advanced band.
String
Orchestras
Instruction is offered in violin, viola, cello, and bass tailored to each child’s experience and playing level. Learn more below.
Choir
Our vocal programs are automatically included in the cost and schedule of each student’s day.
Instrumental Groups
Beginning Band
This is an intensive start for wind and percussion players who have little to no experience on their chosen instrument. No previous experience is necessary.
This band uses the Standard of Excellence Method Book 1. If you do not have one it will be provided.
Cadet Band
A program for instrumentalists with two years or less of playing experience on their instrument.
This program is geared toward players who aren’t beginners, but haven’t yet developed the range and embouchure needed for more difficult music.
Participants will be auditioned.
Intermediate Band
A more advanced program for instrumentalists with a few years of playing experience on their instrument.
This program is great for players who have mastered harder rhythmic concepts and embouchure range and are ready for a challenging, full band experience. Music will be provided.
Advanced Band
Our most advanced program for instrumentalists who have developed significant mastery of their instrument.
Music selections will include a wide variety of styles and challenges for participants.
This program provides a unique opportunity for students to get an intense band experience that will stretch and improve their skills.
Participants will be auditioned. Music will be provided.
String Orchestras
Overture Strings
This is an intensive start for beginning violin, viola, cello, and bass players who have little to no experience on their chosen instrument. No previous experience is necessary.
Beginning strings use the Essential Elements for Strings Book 1. If you do not have one, it will be provided.
DIVERTIMENTO and SINFONIETTA STRINGS
These string players will play with a band most of the day, but will have 1-2 rehearsals a day for only string orchestra.
Divertimento strings are often cadet or intermediate players. Sinfonietta strings are often intermediate to advanced players. Players are placed in the group that best meets their musical needs, as determined by their Monday camp audition. Music will be provided.
Choir
Our vocal programs are automatically included in the cost and schedule of each student’s day.
Junior Choir
This is a choral music experience offered to weave fun musical activities and singing skills into learning sacred songs for young students 12 and under.
Advanced Choir
This gospel choral experience, directed by Garen L. Wolf, chair emeritus of God’s Bible School and College, is an opportunity for students ages thirteen and older to experience the richness of singing full gospel arrangements with staff instrumental accompaniment.
